Do you want your family to spend some time knowing about the stories and events in the Bible? Are you looking for an exciting and super engaging way to do that? How about a Bible charade?
It’s a great and fun way to know about the Bible. And did I tell you that you can include your children in this game too?
You know, when you engage in family devotions and learn about the religion, you may feel a little stagnant most of the time. And sometimes, it can even make you bored. You may lack the urge to know more. And I’m not judging you for that. This is common in most families, including mine!
As you have been doing it every single day for years, it may seem like a routine. You may do it because you have to do it, not because you are genuinely interested in it and really want to know about the Bible.
So, how about making your time enjoyable with your family? How about reliving God’s Word that is there in the Bible? How about getting everyone involved, engaged, and curious to learn more and seek His Word? How about spending some personal time with God where you really want to know everything that is there in the Bible?
Well, that is exactly where the Bible charades come into the picture!
It’s a lovely way to reengage your family, including your kids, with the Bible. All they need is to take part in it, and they will get to know a lot about the happening in Jesus’ life. So, with this game, you get to have fun and learn about the Word of God – all at the same time!
In this post, I have discussed the best Bible charades that you can play with your family.
Use Bible Charades to Teach Your Family
Yes, I have said multiple times that it’s a fun game. But did you know that you can use this opportunity to teach your family about the Bible?
I do that every time I play Bible charades.
So, when I play the game with my family, and they guess it correctly once someone acts out what is there on the card, I always take a pause for a minute or two.
The reason?
I use this time to teach, discuss and learn about that specific incident in the Bible. We discuss where exactly in the Bible it is written, what happened before and after the incident, and what lesson do we get to learn from it.
You know, this has helped our family a lot in knowing, learning, and gathering more knowledge about the Bible.
You can try this too! And you won’t be disappointed. Trust me.
How to Play Bible Charades?
Now, before I move on to the charades, let me first tell you how you can play this fun game!
Don’t stress seeing the name “Bible charades.” It’s just like normal charades. The only difference between your regular charades and Bible charades is that you use events, stories, and other things from the Bible in Bible charades.
So, get the words and topics ready for the game. Use scissors and cut them into the shape of cards. Now take a basket and put those cards in it.
Once you are ready with the cards, you need to do the following:
- Gather all your family members and form some teams
- Now choose one member from any one team and ask them to pick a card from the basket to start the game. You can choose this person randomly or use any other ways to decide which team gets to play first.
- Once they pick the card, they see what is written on it and act it out to the other members of the team. Of course, their team members will have to guess what they are trying to say. Remember, they can’t say it out loud. And they have to do it within a specific time frame. You can decide the time frame before you start the game.
- If the first team can guess what is written on the card correctly, they will get one point. What if they fail to do so? In that case, the members of the other teams will try to guess. And the team that succeeds in doing so will get the point.
- All the teams that have taken part in the game will have to take a turn and follow the same process. The team that gets the highest point at the end of the game wins.
Sounds exciting?
Tips and Tricks for Playing the Game
How about some tips and tricks for playing this super fun game of Bible charades?
- Do you want to make the cards you have prepared for the game last long so that you can use them not once or twice but for a long period of time?
Then the best thing you can do is get them printed. You can also choose to laminate them. The choice is yours!
- Don’t want the teams to have a disagreement regarding the time period for guessing the act?
Get a timer! Yes, I use this too, and it helps me to play the game fairly. Once you get the timer, set it to a time limit of one or two minutes when someone picks and cards and starts acting it out.
