Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters is Engaged to Football and Baseball Star Tim Tebow!
Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, 23, finally said “YES!” to her beau, Tim Tebow, 31. The former NFL quarterback popped the most awaited question to Nel-Peters at sunset on Wednesday at his family’s farm outside of Jacksonville, Florida.
As Nel-Peters said yes, Tebow slipped a 7.25-carat solitaire ring on her finger.
What’s more romantic to that is that Tebow had secretly flown Nel-Peters’ family and closest friends from South Africa to Florida to witness the engagement. Ahhhhh! Tebow has so much exerted effort and brilliantly planned this day. His parents, siblings and friends were all there for that super special moment. The invitees watched the proposal from a distance and unknown from Nel-Peters – who did not suspect a thing.
It was only after the engagement that the couple’s friends and family came out of hiding to the surprised reaction of Nel-Peters, who never hinted a bit that her family and friends had flown miles away to attend the engagement celebration.
Tebow, who has been looking for Mrs. Right for quite a while, once told People the kind of woman he was searching for: “They have to really love God,” he continued. “My faith is important to me — it’s the most important thing — and I need to be with someone who also shares that faith.”
Tebow tells PEOPLE that Nel-Peters is exactly what he has been looking for. “She’s just perfect for me,” he says. “I’m really blessed to have her by my side for the rest of my life.”
The couple is both outspoken Christians whose faith is truly a determining factor in their relationship. Tebow was born and raised in the Philippines where his family served as Baptist missionaries and built a ministry. He has been known for Tebowing, the act when he kneels down to pray before each of his games. Tebowing is a neologism for the act of kneeling on one knee in prayer with one’s head bowed and an arm resting on the one bent knee.
On the other hand, Nel-Peters seemed to fit perfectly on Tebow’s “wife material” checklist since they share the same religious views.
